Champions Dominated At UFC 185, CM Punk On Camera, Event Creates History, More

UFC 185 saw two big championship fights, and two big upsets Saturday night. America lost their stranglehold on two UFC titles, as both Brazil and Poland ended up with championship representatives after a shocking event.

Anthony "Showtime" Pettis was utterly dominated by underdog Rafael dos Anjos over the course of five full rounds, losing his UFC Lightweight Title. Dos Anjos used his jiu jitsu without relying on it to help set himself apart from Pettis after outstriking the champion. Dos Anjos also made great use of body kicks during the entire fight.

Dos Anjos looked greatly improved since his last loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is likely foaming at the mouth to face the new champion. RDA will now go on to face the winner of the Nurmagomedov/Donald Cerrone fight in May

CM Punk also made an appearance at the event, walking the defending champion Pettis to the cage. The two have been training together at Roufusport in Milwaukee throughout the year.

Despite dos Anjos insane championship win, perhaps the most impressive performance of the night was by Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The Polish striker fell victim to an early takedown from UFC Women's Strawweight champion Carla Esparza, but soon after shut down the wrestling game of Esparza. Despite her valiant, repeated attempts, Esparza couldn't get the fight back to the ground and had nothing else to offer.

Jedrzejczyk on the other hand had plenty to offer, violently stuffing takdowns and landing strikes at will. Jedrzejczyk was relentless, stalking Esparza around the cage, attacking and eventually ganking her UFC championship. The Women's Strawweight division is now wide open, with Jedrzejczyk as a fresh champion. Carla Esparza had already fought 7 of the top 15 ranked women in the division.

While this show likely wont get the insane buyrates that UFC 182, 183 and 184 did, the event created history; It was the first since UFC 92 that saw two new champions crowned.
