Eight UFC Fighters Released, Vegas Sets Prop Bet For Rousey Vs. Man, Jon Jones To Heavyweight?

- Prop bets are nothing new, but MMA got one of their more unique ones this week. Bovada Sportsbook is taking bets on whether or not UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will face a man by 2017.

There are some stipulations associated with the bet. Rousey's fight must be sanctioned by both the UFC, as well as an athletic commission in order for the winner to pay out. Also, the bout must occur before December, 31, 2016. Odds were set at +2500, meaning if you bet $100 on it to happen and it did, you would win $2500.

It's worth noting that as of now, it's illegal under all major athletic commissions for a man to fight a woman in an MMA bout. Dana White jokingly said Rousey would have to start fighting men due to her dominant run against women.

- MMAFighting.com reports that eight UFC fighters were released this week, most notably former WEC Champion Brian Bowles. Bowles was arrested in January on drug charges, and has only fought sporadically over the past several years.

The other seven fighters released were Stanislav Nedkov, Andy Ogle, Akira Corassani, Humberto Brown, Rodolfo Rubio, Juan Puig and Tim Gorman.

- UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has long been rumored to make a long awaited jump to heavyweight. After his close call against Alexander Gustafsson those talks were calmed down, but at a Reebok event today, the subject was brought up.

"Cain's a magnificent opponent. My main reason for believing I'll beat Cain is his size. He's not one of these massive heavyweights that is just going to outweigh me and out-power me. He's a guy that I can totally compete with. I believe I'm smart enough to compete with him. So yeah, when it happens, it will be a good one. Make it happen, Dana. Wanna negotiate?" Jones said.
