Ring Of Honor TV Report (1/19): Alberto El Patron Debuts, World Title Match

Jay Briscoe kicks off the show with a promo where Jay Briscoe challenges Kingdom to put the Furry Pink Belt on the line against his world championship tonight.

The Nashville crowd are into things early as Daniels does guest commentary.

After the commercial Alexander is working Kaz over outside the ring by the guardrail. Daniels puts over his match next week against Alberto El Patron. Kaz battles back, going agter the neck of Alexander. Alexander hits two suplexes, but Kaz blocks the third one.

Kazarian locks on a tight armbar but Alexander manages to get to the ropes to cause the break. Kaz hits a huge springboard DDT but only go two, and now we get dueling chants as the crowd goes crazy. Kazarian catches Alexander with a cutter as he flies off the top rope and then hits a Tomikaze for the win!

Winner: Frankie Kazarian via pinfall (tomikaze)

- A Matt Taven promo airs, and he reveals that he'll be facing Jay Briscoe tonight.

Top Prospects Tournament Match
Donovan Dijak vs Jake Dirden

Two two competitors follow to the Code of Honor. They're putting Dijak over hard on commentary. Decade comes out to the ring to keep an eye on things. Dijak works Dirden over with pretty standard stuff, but then lands a dive to the outside that gets the crowd going.

Dirdden fires back with a big chokeslam, but only gets two. He follows up Saito suplex and then signals for the spike, but telegraphs it. Dijak does a move a lot like the GTS, only from a torture rack position called "Feast Your Eyes" for the pin.

Winner: Donovan Dijak via pinfall (Feast Your Eyes)

- Decade is impressed by Dijak

- A cryptic video featuring messages about "change" airs. It's a CHIKARA commercial.

- Alberto El Patron comes to the ring for a promo, and the crowd loves him. Crowd goes crazy. He says he's looking forward to facing Christopher Daniels and wants to become ROH champion. Instead, Jay Lethal and Truth Martini come out and trash talk him. Lethal says his TV championship is the most important in the company. A really good promo all around here.

- Nigel McGuinness addresses the number one contender situation after the triple threat match was a no-contest next week. McGuinness announces that all three will get a shot, and will compete in a four corners match for the ROH title.

ROH World Championship
Jay Briscoe (c) vs Matt Taven (w/Maria & Michael Bennett)

Briscoe assaults Taven before the match even starts. Briscoe bounces Taven out of the ring and works him over while yelling at Maria and Bennett. Maria causes a distraction that allows Taven to hit a big dive to the outside.

Bennett whips Jay into the guard rail while Taven distracts the ref. Bennett also lands a super kick to capitalize. Briscoe gets his knees up on a frog splash attempt, and the crowd gets behind him big time. Taven regains the advantage as the show goes to commercial.

Taven is still in control as we come back from commercial. Briscoe fights back and brawls his way back into the match, but a super kick and neckbreaker can't finish Taven off. Taven battles back, but the two end up on the top rope and Briscoe hits a Jay Driller for the win.

Winner: Jay Briscoe via pinfall (Jay Diller) to retain the ROH World Championship

Bennett hits Briscoe after the bell with the Furry Pink Title. Maria grabs a mic and says that the title is hers and he doesn't have the balls to fight her. Mark Briscoe comes out and makes the save save for his brother.

Briscoe challenges the Kingdom to a tag match on next week's show, which they seemingly accept to close the show.
