MMA Fighter War Machine Attempts Suicide In Prison

According to a report by TMZ.com, former UFC and Bellator MMA fighter War Machine attempted suicide while being held in a Las Vegas jail on Tuesday. War Machine, real name Jon Koppenhaver, is awaiting trial for 30-plus charges from an alleged assault against his ex-girlfriend, Christy Mack.

The report states War Machine was found unresponsive with a piece of linen around his neck and tied to the leg of the bed. He is being held without bail at Nevada's Clark County Detention Center.

In August, War Machine was found in California after a nation-wide man hunt following the assault on Mack and another male. He posted a 14-5 record during his MMA career, which also saw him spent time in jail on assault charges.

The failed suicide attempt resulted in Koppenhaver being moved to medical isolation and placed on suicide watch. There was an apparent suicide note found with him in his cell.
