Jon Jones - Daniel Cormier Appear On ESPN (Video), UFC Releases Statement Over Incident

- In the hours that followed Monday's brawl between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and contender Daniel Cormier, the two remained obligated for several media appearances. One of those was an interview on ESPN's "SportsCenter," which you can see in the video above. The fighters appeared together, but from two different locations in Las Vegas.

Jones, who will defend his title in September at UFC 178 against the unbeaten Cormier, immediately offered an apology for the brawl that took place following Ultimate Media Day. "Bones" said things got "intimate" and "very passionate" between the two, which is nothing new for fighters during face-offs.

Cormier informed everyone – including Jones – that he would "never allow a man to nudge me and not expect a reaction." After Jones and "DC" went nose-to-nose, Cormier shoved the champion. Jones responded, and the two tumbled off the stage.

"He's a fake individual," Cormier said. "A fake person and I am gonna beat him up."

- The UFC plans to investigate the incident between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier after the Nevada Athletic Commission does the same. The UFC light heavyweight champion and his September challenger were involved in an impromptu brawl following Ultimate Media Day in Las Vegas on Monday.

"This is certainly not a proud moment for the UFC organization," said Kirk Hendrick, the UFC's Chief Legal Officer, on UFC.com. "We expect more from our athletes, especially these two gentlemen, who are very well-trained and highly educated professionals. Their actions were clearly a violation of the UFC's code of conduct.

"There are going to be ramifications. Whether you're the champion, or this is your first fight in the UFC, there are going to be ramifications from the UFC for these actions."

The NAC asked for video of the incident, which the UFC provided. Hendrick added that penalties could be handed out once the commission has made a decision. Jones and Cormier are scheduled for the main event of UFC 178.
