- Former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen failed a second drug test, according to a report by MMAFighting.com. Sonnen was tested by the Nevada Athletic Commission earlier this month and found to have HGH and another banned substance in his system.

Sonnen announced his retirement from the sport after news of the first failed test became public knowledge. He was a two-time contender to the UFC middleweight championship and one-time contender to the light heavyweight belt.

"Yes, the commission is aware of other prescribed medications I was taking and I will not challenge their allegations," Sonnen said. "I will cooperate with the commission and look forward to having a dialogue about how fighters who transition off TRT can avoid violating any rules."

The UFC released a statement of its own following the incident, saying, "We are made aware that a second random test resulted in a positive test result for Chael Sonnen. Chael will have an opportunity to appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission on July 23. We will support the commission and continue to ensure that all competitors complete on a level playing field free of performance enhancing drugs."
