Mick Foley & Kevin Nash Discuss "The Fingerpoke Of Doom," Foley Winning The Title That Night, More

WWE Classics has an interesting interview with Kevin Nash and Mick Foley, who discussed January 4, 1999, the night when Mick Foley won the WWF Championship on a taped edition of Monday Night RAW, while Kevin Nash lost his WCW Championship to a returning Hulk Hogan on WCW Nitro via fingerpoke (video is above).

Many at the time feel that the "Fingerpoke of Doom" led to WWE decisively taking control of the Monday Night Wars for good, although Nash disagrees. Nash said that the angle did him no favors and was done to re-create interest in Goldberg by having him feud with the nWo, but Goldberg got injured.

During the episode of Nitro, Tony Schiavone infamously spoiled Foley's title victory on RAW, and sarcastically quipped that it would "put a lot of butts in the seats." 600,000 households then switched from Nitro to RAW, allowing WWE to win the ratings war that night and never lose again. Foley admitted that Schiavone's remark bothered him, but that the two spoke following the incident and Schiavone said that he was instructed to say that line by Eric Bischoff.
