Chael Sonnen Talks CM Punk Being Pulled From UFC Appearance

As noted earlier, WWE Champion CM Punk will no longer be escorting Chael Sonnen to the cage at UFC On FOX in Punk's hometown of Chicago, IL on January 28th.

In an interview with MMAWeekly.com, Sonnen denied that the appearance was ever confirmed.

"I gotta tell you, I read those headlines," said Sonnen. "I never confirmed them. CM Punk never confirmed them. I'll speak for myself... I'm not in the business of stopping a headline, but I never confirmed that anybody would be joining me. I know he didn't confirm it."

While the appearance was never technically "confirmed" by Sonnen or Punk, it was Punk who told MMAFighting.com that Vince McMahon nixed the appearance. The appearance was not put together by the UFC and WWE but was rather something Sonnen and Punk put together on their own.
