More On Umaga's WWE Firing, Morrison Speaks Out, More

According to an article published on The Sun website this morning, World Wrestling Entertainment waited a few days to announce Umaga second violation of the company's Wellness Program "due to the unusual nature of Umaga's termination." As noted earlier, since this was the first time WWE had dealt with the termination of a talent due to Wellness-related issues, the company delayed the announcement so they could review their policy and make the call on how to publicly handle the issue. Some may note that Chris Masters was let go by WWE while he was serving a suspension in November 2007. He was announced as suspended and was one week into serving it when the company opted to release him from his contract. The circumstances involving Umaga are completely different, thus making him the first talent to be released completely due to Wellness-related issues.

The Elmira Star-Gazette has an article promoting this Saturday's SmackDown/ECW live event at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, New York. The article features a quote from SmackDown Superstar John Morrison pushing the event as being a better entertainment value than sports or concerts. "WWE is one of those things that is designed for people to experience live," Morrison said. "There's concerts, there's sporting events, there's movies, but WWE is kind of like a fusion of all of those things. There's nothing else like it." Morrison said he's tentatively scheduled to wrestle Mike Knox on Saturday. "As far as who John Morrison fights, it doesn't really matter, because the match that I will have in Binghamton will steal the show, and be the best reason that all the fine people of New York have for coming back to World Wrestling Entertainment the next time we come to Binghamton." Morrison said growing up, he idolized the likes of Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Ultimate Warrior and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. "Growing up as a little kid, those were the guys that I idolized, that I wanted to be like," Morrison said.
