- One of the planned matches for this year's WWE Summerslam pay-per view event was Shelton Benjamin defending his United States Championship against Mr. Kennedy. WWE was forced to pull this match after Kennedy injured his shoulder and couldn't find another suitable opponent for Benjamin. They then decided that Jeff Hardy vs. MVP match would be taken in it's place.

This week Kennedy is expected to have his shoulder evaluated by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham. An update to his injury and how long Kennedy will be away from the WWE ring will be released at that time.
